DOT will procure food for the AFU for the second half of the year based on an updated catalog

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has approved changes to the Food Catalog for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The proposals were jointly developed by the Ministry of Defense and the State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition. Primarily, they will contribute to improving the quality of food for servicemen.

New products will appear in the AFU rations in the second half of the year. In particular, they will be supplemented with various types of spices, grains, fish, and canned goods.

Additionally, some canned fruits will be replaced with fresh ones. The catalog now includes fruits of early, mid, and late ripening periods.

Additional requirements were specified for some product categories:
- Dairy products now have a wider range of fat content options.
- Flour, pasta, canned fish, and sausages must be of the highest quality.
- Fish will be procured without heads to optimize the product price.

At the same time, some products have been removed from the list (e.g., sago groats, sturgeon, or asparagus).

"The changes made to the catalog will improve the quality of food received by the military. We have added important items that directly affect the taste properties of the dishes. At the same time, we removed items that limit the ordering possibilities of meat, dairy products, or other goods due to the daily ration budget per soldier,” said Victoria Vynogradova, Director of Procurement Management at DOT.

It should be noted that the State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition has announced food procurements for the AFU for the second half of the year.
