The State Operator For Non-Lethal Acquisition (DOT) has introduced QR codes on the packaging of both standard and enhanced individual field rations (DPNP and DPNP-P). This initiative is part of DOT’s broader strategy to improve supply systems based on operational experience and frontline input.
As of October 2025, all field ration manufacturers are required to include QR codes on their packaging. The feedback form gathers insights on satisfaction with specific meals, packaging quality, and overall impressions. It includes both rating-based and open-ended questions, allowing service members to highlight shortcomings and suggest improvements.
The collected data will inform future decisions on ration development, with particular attention to taste profiles, nutritional balance, and packaging ergonomics.
“We are taking a comprehensive approach to building a responsive feedback system. QR codes are one of several tools we use to gather actionable insights. Surveys provide quantitative data and help identify systemic issues, while field visits to combat zones allow us to refine requests and co-develop practical solutions with the troops,” said Tetiana Kharchenko, Strategic Communications Advisor at DOT.
Rations featuring QR codes are already being delivered to military units. The first phase of data collection is underway, and all personnel who have received QR-coded rations are encouraged to participate in the survey.
