Ensuring the protection of the life and health of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the main goal of the memorandum of cooperation signed by Serhiy Tkachuk, Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and Andriy Sozansky, Director of the State Opetator For Non-Lethal Acquisition, an executive state enterprise of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
One of the key areas of joint cooperation between the two agencies is laboratory testing of food products supplied under state contracts for the needs of Ukraine's defenders.
"Our service has a wide range of powers to ensure food security and control over food safety. An important component of this work is an extensive laboratory network that operates in every region of Ukraine. It is these laboratories that test food products for compliance with safety indicators, which allows us to identify risks in a timely manner and ensure an adequate level of protection not only for our citizens, but also for our defenders. We plan to cooperate with the DOT in this area," emphasized Sergiy Tkachuk.
In turn, Andriy Sozansky said: "This year, DOT has already stepped up its efforts to improve the quality of food products. Particular attention is paid to the groups of goods that are most vulnerable to possible manipulation, in particular dairy products. The next step will be mandatory laboratory testing of sausage products. In this context, engaging and cooperating with the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection is a key step, given the high expert capacity of the service in conducting relevant research."
At the meeting, which was attended by the heads of the Central Logistics Development Department and the Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine Department of the Ministry of Defence, the parties also agreed on further steps of cooperation, including the exchange of information on research methods in accordance with modern requirements, as well as the readiness of laboratories to conduct the necessary research.
