The State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition has procured new sleeping bags for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, based on an updated technical specification. The new sleeping bag includes several key improvements, such as being lighter, equipped with a water-repellent cover, and comfortable for use in various weather conditions.
For example, the previous sleeping bag was a single-layer design. In contrast, the new version has three parts: an inner sleeping bag, a liner, and an outer water-repellent cover.
The liner protects the sleeping bag from internal contamination and moisture from the user's body. At the same time, the water-repellent and breathable outer cover shields the soldier from rain, snow, fog, or wind.
The modular system of the updated sleeping bag allows it to be used in different temperature conditions. For instance, soldiers can use only the inner bag indoors, and the complete system outdoors. Additionally, the new sleeping system is made from three-layered fabric with a membrane, ensuring high breathability and warmth retention.
The updated sleeping bag is lighter than the previous model, weighing no more than 3.8 kg. Thanks to the new compression sack, it can be compressed further and attached to a backpack along with a field mat.
"Soldiers often spend weeks on combat missions where the sleeping bag becomes their primary place for rest. Therefore, it needs to be multifunctional, comfortable, and easy to transport — meeting all the needs of the fighters. The updated technical specification takes into account various usage conditions," said Viktoria Vynohradova, Program Director for Equipment at the State Operator for Non-Lethal Acquisition.
